Home Made Lactation Cookie Recipe: big batch recipe

lactation cookie recipe

By Megan Quinn

This home made lactation recipe is well & truly tried & tested. A little fiddly with all if the ingredients but really tasty and moreish. I’m not breastfeeding any more but my husband keeps asking me to make more because he loves them so much. I used to have to make a double batch and hide some so he didn’t scoff them all.
(aim to eat about 4 or more a day)

Makes approx 60-70 biscuits.

250g butter  (softened)
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 tblsp water
2 tblsp flaxseed meal (no subs)
2 lrg eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3 cups rolled oats (not quick oats)
1 cup chocolate chips
2 tblsp brewers yeast (no subs)

  1. Preheat oven at 190C (375F).
  2. Mix flaxseed meal and water, set aside 3-5 minutes.
  3. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs.
  4. Stir flaxseed mix into butter mix and add vanilla. Beat until well blended.
  5. Sift flour, baking soda, salt & yeast. Add butter mix to flour mix.
  6. Stir in the oats and then the choc chips.
  7. Drop golf ball size (or slightly smaller) amounts on parchment paper on baking sheet.  Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden.

  1. How long do these keep for? I am wanting to take some to the hospital with me 🙂
