Big batch Fish Cakes recipe

Jae-Maree recently posted a photo of her solo MamaBake haul (see above).  We were all impressed and before long we were all trying to illicit recipes from her.  She, very kindly, sent this one in with the following note that she goes by smell on her recipes so to tune in to what you are making and tweak it according to your personal tastes

“I’m a bit of a “chuck it all in and wing it” type of cook but I’m sure I could come up with some more precise measurements.

I do this one purely by smell so I hope it’s ok enough for you!”


Half bunch of -Coriander
Flat leaf parsley
3 spring onions/shallots
Thumb size portion of ginger
3 cloves of garlic

1. Put those in food processor and quickly chop

Add 6 fillets of fish
TBLS Sweet chilli sauce
1/2 tspn of Minced Chilli
Dessert spoon of Fish sauce
Dessert spoon of Soy sauce
Dessert spoon of Kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
Half of a Limes juice

2. Blitz until combined and forms a paste like consistency.

3. Mash 3 large potatoes, let it cool and combine with the fish mixture.

4. Sit in the fridge to ferment for a few hours and then crumb and fry in a pan.
