- Stop and breathe
- I put on my fave song and sit with my eyes closed and immerse
- Go back to bed and start the day again
- Take a few deep breaths
- Make a list
- Nap
- Just drink tea
- Write it out in my journal
- I remind myself I can only do one thing at a time and try and focus on that and try and not get stressed if I cant get everything I would like to done
- I hide in the loo if I’m somewhere public or if I’m at home I bake or I read
- Have a shower.
- I cry
- I say f***. Loudly.
- I put the kettle on, the sound calms me down. Then ring Mum or a friend, have a good cry, have a glass of wine and if bubs is asleep sneak in a bath with candles. Or go for a big walk.
- I do something physically demanding. I am the crazy woman mowing while swearing and/or muttering to myself. If I can’t burn off the energy for whatever reason then I put myself in time out and sniff some lavender and have a bit of a sook.
- Scream profanities, to start with. Then go for a walk and kick bins. Then empty my head so I can start to write it all down and have some chance of getting some of it done. Depends on what’s got me overwhelmed… Cutting the tension with a joke usually helps.
- Call a trusted friend and blurt it all out. Then think it over for a week, make a decision, and take action to fix it. And, long forest walks, loud music, a delicious meal, a journal entry, read a great story, watch a beautiful film, and wait for wisdom to arrive.
- Sleep
- Stop. Do the thing that’s right in front of me. Then the next, and so on. When I’ve had enough, I quit. Whether it’s completed or not.
- Sleep. Or curl up and dive into a book and pretend the world has gone away.
- Step out into my veggie garden, and take a breath. Kinda slows me down for a moment.
- Take the night off and have an easy dinner for the kidlets & myself.
- Cook
- Hit the gym, work off my angries. I find I work so much harder if I’m stressed
- Watch the birds!
